Bowls handicaps — shots on the board before the first end
Each player carries a handicap in shots: a strong bowler is 0 and a newer one 4, 6 or 8. Before the first bowl the difference goes on the scoreboard in favour of the higher handicap.
- A 1 playing a 6 gives 5 shots: the scoreboard reads 0–5 before play.
- In pairs and fours, each side's players add their shots together (many clubs cap the total).
- The recorded shot totals include the start.
Auto-adjust raises the winner's handicap and lowers the loser's after each match — a big win moves two shots, a close one none.
Available in box leagues, ladders, tournaments and americano leagues. Members see the start before they play, and the app scores each game from it.
